While settlement in the southeast was slowly growing, with railroads running through numerous counties, there is only one rail line that crosses the river and reaches across to Montana. Does note two county size native reservations, a "Sioux Reservation" northwest of the Black Hills, and "Sisseton and Wahpeton"
