I believe it dates from the 1920s-1930s

the only flaw is a few white paint drips on the front of the owl

I then opened the box to discover the whetstone inside--making this quite the useful box

but it opens and closes with ease and provides lots of space for stashing all manner of things

Plus, she whistles! The whistle is in great shaped structurally but its surface shows some age and wear, with some loss
